Africanis Facts

The Africanis (also known as Hottentot Hunting Dog, Zulu dog, Khoikhoi Dog, Bantu Dog and African Dog) actually isn’t a dog breed but a group of South African dogs. Africanis is also another name for all the aboriginal dogs in South Africa.

Size and Appearance
The Africanis’ coat is short but thick. Its coat can be in any color. Most seen are white and brown. Sometimes there is even a white coat with patches of brown. Because of their short coat, the Africans need little or no grooming. A male usually heights from 48 to 56 cm and a female - from 46 to 51 cm.

The African dogs are suited for a family life. They are very playful, friendly, intelligent and loyal, but very territorial too. These dogs are very reliable companion and they can easily be trained.
